The English corridor is lively and vividly designed!

In 2021, the Ministry of Education selected the College of Management at Asia University (abbrev. AMC EMI) as the "Bilingual Key Cultivation Institute". For the coming five years, AMC EMI will implement the five-year bilingual subsidy program. AMC EMI has achieved fruitful results in just a few months: Based on the internal foreign instructor’s teaching evaluation, AMC EMI office implemented a comprehensive 40-course with full-English rubrics. The College of Management established the EMI office with software and hardware layout to better facilitate an all-English environment. The number of professors who have passed the training courses during winter and summer breaks is as high as 60, accounting for 83% of the total number of instructors among AMC.
AMC EMI combined required courses (compulsory Freshman English language course for General Purposes (EGP), English for General Specific Purposes (EGSP), the professional English language courses offered by various departments, ESP/EAP courses, and English Intensive Program) and informal activities (such as International student partner, EZ Talk, English briefing competition, small-scale TED Talk, Management Topic Talk, etc.) for students to immerse into the EMI program smoothly by simultaneously providing more EGP study hours for AMC students. In this two-pronged approach, students will ultimately achieve CEFR B2 English proficiency. They will then be better motivated for independent English learning.

Additionally, in line with the planning of the Ministry of Education, inaugurated preparations for the parallel Chinese and English EMI courses of the second academic year (2022-2023) have been completed. To strengthen the foundation for the future expansion and development of AMC EMI teaching and learning, we introduce the concept of “Honors Program” to students, who will be assisted to choose EMI courses according to their individual curriculum plan, while they will all gradually meet the ultimate enrollment requirement for EMI courses. By the time they graduate from AU, they will receive a certificate of EMI completion. This special curriculum design aims for providing AMC students with diversified English study opportunities. For those who join the EMI program, they will strengthen their organization and communication skills in English. The fresher English classes (three credits) and General English Practice course (two-credit hours Intern course) are offered. To reach this goal, two newly hired specialists in English teachings: Dr. Princy Pappachan and Dr. Pei-Ju Mona Wu, who jointly promote practical courses based on the themes of various management courses, Management Topic Talk sessions, will guide students to exercise with professional themes and popular current affairs, and will use English with ease to participate in the current academic year.
More upcoming events, such as English extra-curriculum activities, winter camp, summer camp, campus snapshots, and Sci-Fi Fiction and Management Games are planned. By all means, please join us!
